My Best Workouts for a Toned Butt and Abs

*This post is sponsored by adidas however all opinions are my own*

Abs and Butt.  These days everybody wants them. When people ask me questions about my fitness they are the two body parts that I’m asked about the most. Why? Because skinny-mini body frames are out and strong, athletic body frames are in.

My first key for keeping a strong and toned body is my workout (duh), which I am a big believer in so keep reading to get all the deets. My second key to keeping a strong and toned body is wearing the right gear, because when you look good you feel good and when you’re comfortable working out you will work out harder. I’ve been a big fan of adidas active wear for a long time, so when they asked me to partner with them on this post I was super excited!

I was born with my butt and I’ve had abs for as long as I can remember, thanks to starting sports at a young age. But that doesn’t mean I don’t have to work at them. Things start to go south as you inch closer to the age of 30. I work really hard to keep my butt in good shape and my abs strong.

What are my favorite workouts?

This is a question that I receive often, so I’m going to share with you guys my absolute favorite moves for butts and abs. All of my workouts are short and sweet. I really believe in High Intensity Interval Training or HIIT for short. HIIT is a workout that alternates between intense bursts of activity with short periods of lower intensity activity in between.

My workouts generally involved

5-7 circuits or exercises that I cycle through 3-5 times depending on how much time I have to workout that day. I love these workouts because they move FAST, I never get bored, and they keep you burning calories all day long. Here are a few of my favorite exercises for my abs and butt.

Sprint intervals – Want to turn your body into a fat burning machine while working out every single muscle at once? Start incorporating sprints into your workout. Sprinting is one of the best workouts you can do to tone up your abs and butt. I try to do them 3x per week and I usually alternate 30-second sprints with a 20-30 second breather or walk.

Jump Squats – My go-to booty move. If you think stationary squats make you bulky then try jump squats. Cardio combined with the toning helps to keep the muscles lean. These will kick your ass into shape real quick (pun intended).

Jump Lunges – Same idea as jump squats except you’re isolating the muscles in each leg individually. If you’re looking for toned thighs to go with your toned butt then this move is a must.

Planks – If abs are what you want then incorporate more planks into your life. Nothing whips my abs into shape faster than adding in more planks.

A really important factor to being successful in HIIT workouts is to make sure that you are prepared with the right workout gear. When I’m doing my HIIT workouts I don’t want to be worrying about adjusting anything, picking wedgies, or making sure my shorts don’t ride up. Nothing will make you hate sprint intervals faster than wearing shorts that ride up. I like to do a compression pant with a sports bra or tighter tank top. This way your clothing is just an extension of your body and not something you need to worry about. I also like to look good when I workout. I’ve found that if I look good during my workouts then I feel good which leads to a more confident and productive workout. Luckily there is a lot of really functional and stylish gear out there to make this easier.

adidas is one of my favorite workout brands because they always focus on functionality and the athlete before trends or style. And yet they still manage to make stylish active wear by collaborating with high-end fashion designers. In 2005, adidas began working with Stella McCartney to design a line of activewear that balances athletic performance with attention to fabric, color, and detail. The result is an amazing collection of functional yet feminine pieces, including the outfit I’m wearing in this post.

The Warp Knit pants and top that I am wearing are adidas’ climalite® fabric that sweeps sweat away from your skin as you workout. The seamless warp-knit design has integrated stretch and ventilation to insure maximum comfort. I love the ventilation zones in these pants because I don’t feel like I’m suffocating in them. Oh and most importantly, I’m obsessed with the UltraBoost sneakers. The soles of the shoes have a super responsive cushioning system that is perfect for all of my sprints and jumps.
